WhatsApp-The popular multi-platform messaging application exchanged 14 billion messages on 2017 New Year’s Eve India. It is almost 32 per cent of which were in some form of media, WhatsApp announced on Friday.
The number of messages shared on the platform on New Year’s Eve is even higher than the last record set during Diwali when eight billion messages were sent in one day, WhatsApp said.
About 32% of the messages were in form of media, total of 3.1 billion images, 700 million GIFs and 610 million videos were sent on the App on the occasion.
WhatsApphas more than 160 million monthly active users in India. It had stopped working on devices running on Android 2.2 or lower, iOS 6 or lower, and Windows Phone 7 on December 31.
The Facebook-owned WhatsApp also announced that people all over world sent 63 billion messages on New Year’s Eve, setting a new record for the app that lets people have chats and make voice and video calls. Within those 63 billion messages, there were 7.9 billion images and 2.4 billion videos.
