Samsung on launched its Gear S3 smartwatch in India as it looks similar to Apple in the premium smartwatch segment. Rs. 28,500 priced Gear S3 has retained the circular look, and comes in two models: the Gear S3 classic and the Gear S3 frontier.
The Gear S3 was first showcased by the company at IFA 2016 trade show in Berlin, will be made available in the market from January 18. These are dual core powered deices that come with built in GPS / NFC.
The Samsung Gear S3 Classic and the Frontier smartwatches sports a 1.3-inch circular dial screen with 360 x 360 pixels resolution and super AMOLED. Also it comes with ‘Always On’ feature. Both devices are powered by 1GHz dual core processor and packed with 4GB ROM and 768MB RAM.
The new Gear S3 classic comes in minimalistic design, while the Gear S3 frontier has a rugged look with a bigger watch face but both smartwatches are IP68 water-resistant. Gear S3 frontier in India doesn’t support 4G LTE like it does abroad, but it does come with military standard durability certification.
Gear S3 smartwatches have GPS and built-in speaker to let people take calls from the watch itself. The watches also come with the S Health app, Speedometer and Altimeter/barometer apps that help track day-to-day fitness activities. Gear S3 smartwatches also support MST payment capabilities, which means that users can tap or swipe their debit or credit card by Samsung Pay on the watch.
The smartwatches have 380 mAh battery supports wireless charging and on a full charge can last for up to 4 days. Samsung Gear S3 Classic and Frontier will be available from 18th January for Rs. 28,500.
