There is a Quick toggle menu in this Android based feature phone that has toggles for Bluetooth, Data, Airplane mode, Audio profile, flashlight and option to adjust display brightness. The device lacks a home screen, and recent apps key. The user can clear background apps with Cleaner app.

The device comes out of the box with some pre-installed apps including Calendar, Clock, Calculator, File Explorer and Tools that has SOS, CallFireWall, and Note along with Facebook Lite, YouTube, and a web browser.

Google Play didn’t work properly, but it supports some side-loading apps. You can get side-load apps with APKs, including WhatsApp that can work fine without any issue.

Performance and Connectivity

The Quad-core Spreadtrum SP9820A Processor coupled with ARM Cortex A7 provides much smooth performance without any lag. The cores are running at 1.25GHz per core along with 512MB RAM also gives good feedback to the user and is more than enough for this phone.

The user can get 421MB of RAM as usable, out of which there is 237MB of RAM when the default apps are running in the background on its 512MB RAM and 2.47GB of storage is available out of 4GB of internal storage.

The device supports 4G LTE with VoLTE on the primary SIM while the secondary SIM goes to 2G. The user can go for USB tethering to use the 4G on PC and it has Bluetooth support also. But still, the device lacks WiFi and WiFi tethering/hotspot option.

Verdict

Lava Connect M1 will be a better choice for who want to try out Reliance Jio’s service and VoLTE. The android based device doesn’t look good and is a bit bulky, but still has good the build quality.

The device isn’t available through online retailers and has MRP of Rs. 3599, but it is available for as low as Rs. 3000 from stores in select cities.
